MeshGems

2.8 of MeshGems Available:  What's New?

Every 6 months, Distene delivers a new release of MeshGems. Highlights of MeshGems 2.8 are the following:

MeshGems in general:

New Features

• Added support of robust quadratic meshing for all the MeshGems components, that is throughout the whole meshing process from surface to volume and for all the supported elements.
 • Added a new Template delivered in the MeshGems distribution as part of an effort to help developers saving time and setting up a workflow, based on MeshGems-CADSurf, MeshGems-Cleaner and MeshGems-Tetra. This aims at generating a tetrahedral volume mesh out of a CAD file and which is applicable for dirty/noisy geometries. This workflow was designed based on our experience and we hope it will help maximizing the success rate of your meshing process.

Surface Meshing:

New Features

• Added capability to generate a surface mesh out of a “hybrid CAD”, which is a geometry made of a combination of:

  1. Analytical CAD entities (whose geometries are defined by analytical functions, such as for example NURBS), and
  2. Discrete CAD entities (whose geometries are defined by a tesselation, in other words, a set of triangles).
  3. Patch independent correction operations on wires.

Improvements

• Mesh quality improvement in the Discrete surface meshing workflow
• Increased meshing robustness
• Better handling of complex overlaps in the cleaning process (MeshGems-Cleaner)

Volume Meshing:

New Features

• Volume proximity available also in MeshGems-Tetra_HPC. We are involved in a continuous process to include all the available options of MeshGems-Tetra into MeshGems-Tetra_HPC.
• Sub-domains provided as input in Meshgems-Tetra and MeshGems-Tetra_HPC for a smoother integration into your CAE chain.
• Min/max edge length enforcement in MeshGems-Tetra_HPC.

Improvements

Performance enhancements in:
• MeshGems-Tetra: improvement of quality with overconstrained elements processing (observed in more than 50% of cases) and slight quality improvement of sliver processing
• MeshGems-Tetra_HPC: improvement of robustness, memory footprint and parallel performance
• Geometry accuracy improvements in MeshGems-Hexa
• Quality improvements of boundary layer generation in MeshGems-Hybrid

Datakit Announces the Version 2019.1 of its CAD Conversion Tools

The latest update of Datakit’s CAD data exchange software range is now available! It adds the support for many new CAD formats versions reading, for all Datakit applications:

  • JT 10.3
  • ACIS 2018 1.0
  • Solid Edge 2019
  • NX 12.0.2.9
  • SOLIDWORKS 2019

  All formats convertible with CrossManager

A new offer is available with this new version for Rhinoceros users.
The PLMXML import has been added to Datakit’s Rhino import plug-ins bundle, at no extra cost. It is therefore possible to buy all of these plug-ins (twelve formats) for an unchanged price of $1500! Users already having this bundle with an up to date maintenance subscription can take advantage of this new PLMXLM import from now. These plug-ins include, of course, also the news from V2019.1.

The 12 formats available in Rhino import bundle edited by Datakit This version also benefits from the constant improvement of the dozens of CAD converters provided by Datakit. Indeed, they are maintained constantly, in order to improve their quality and to process new entities, while optimizing the execution time. Users wanting to try Datakit software can download it and get a trial license on CrossManager and CrossCad/Plg official pages. Software vendors interested in CrossCad/Ware can visit the API presentation page and contact Datakit/inrinSIM to get information relevant to their activity.

The version 2019.2 of Datakit’s 2D and 3D formats conversion software is available

New versions of CATIA V5, CGR, Revit, Rhino and NX are supported.

The latest update of Datakit’s CAD data exchange software range is now available!
It adds the support for new CAD and BIM formats versions reading, for all Datakit applications:

CATIA V5 and CGR readers
The version V5-6 R2019 (R29) is now supported. As usual, Datakit closely follows the evolution of CATIA versions and offers support for new versions very soon after their release.  Datakit tools can thus now read and convert .CATDrawing.CATPart, .CATProduct and .cgr files from versions R10 to V5-6R2019.

Revit reader
A little over a year after the first release of its Revit reader, Datakit continues to improve the support of this format and now offers the ability to read files coming from Revit 2016. This version is added to versions 2017, 2018 and 2019 already supported.

Rhinoceros reader
Datakit plug-ins for Rhino are compatible with Rhino 6 for one year now. The novelty of V2019.2 concerns Datakit’s .3dm file reader, which is now also able to read files coming from Rhino 6.
Versions 4, 5 and 6 of Rhinoceros are therefore supported.

NX reader
Siemens has recently changed the numbering of NX versions and has released two new versions: NX 1847 and NX 1851. Datakit’s tools are now able to read them, while still supporting older releases, from Unigraphics 15 to NX 12.

All formats convertible with CrossManager

The version 2019.2 also benefits from the constant improvement of the dozens of CAD converters provided by Datakit. Indeed, they are maintained constantly, in order to improve their quality and to process new entities while optimizing the execution time.

These enhancements apply to all Datakit’s product lines: for end users using plug-ins or the converter CrossManager, as well as for software vendors integrating Datakit’s technology.

Users wanting to try Datakit software can download it and get a trial license on CrossManager and CrossCad/Plg official pages.

Software vendors interested in CrossCad/Ware can visit the API presentation page and contact Datakit to get information relevant to their activity.
